If you are a small business owner, you undoubtedly spend time considering how to best market your business. Perhaps you’ve studied your competitors’ marketing to try to glean ideas, or maybe taken some marketing courses. And, of course, you’re probably on the internet, using Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to help increase your business’s exposure. But how do you know if your online presence is doing your sales any good? Here are a couple ideas about making your online business marketing more efficient and more effective.
1. Create Useful Content
If you have a Twitter account, you probably know that there are a lot of Twitter users out there who tweet everything under the sun in an effort to attract attention. There are also a lot of Twitter users who post information that is clearly just marketing copy. However, who wants to read ads on Twitter? People want useful information. Try to come up with things to post that people can actually use, or that they might find interesting. At the very least, make your tweets somewhat entertaining. No one wants to read the same information that they would see in a typical sales presentation or marketing brochure.
2. Post Early And Often
If you are on sites like Twitter and Facebook, you certainly don’t want to overwhelm your friends and followers with a glut of information. But you also don’t want to create an account and let it grow dusty with disuse. Make sure your followers know you’re still alive. Posting once a day or once a week is a good habit to get into. If your potential customers are bored, or even if they’re not, they’ll appreciate the fresh content. Again, make sure what you’re posting is helpful to them, not self-serving. Add value and you’ll get it back.
